Brief Description: Final layups for the overhead console
I roughened up the bonding areas around the edges of the overhead console. Then I loaded it into my truck and took it over to Jack Keegan's hangar where the glassing materials are, since I didn't want to be driving back and forth while resin was setting up. Jack has built a Lancair IV-P Propjet and has loaned me his facilities for this kind of work.
With th cabin top on sawhorses at Jack's hangar, I cut out the tapes to length and then began making the layups. It was done in 3 sections: the area forward the door strut brackets (3 tapes) and the left and right sides aft of the brackets. After I laid the tapes in place, I covered them with peel ply. Around the door openings there is some excess that will be trimmed and also a couple of voids to be filled but this basically finishes the bonding of the overhead so the cabin top can now be installed permanently.
