So I didn't get to start on the project right away because I'm doing a condition inspection on the RV-6A, which has been grounded for about 2 years, and figuring out the problem with the left ignition. Before that, I was given a new hangar, so I coated the floor and installed a lift so both aircraft can share the hangar, then moved everything from the old hangar. But while I'm doing the condition inspection, while waiting for parts, I can start messing around with the -10.
This part is pretty normal. I found that the structure on the RV-6A needed reinforcement. While this section only carries a flange and one end of the SCAT for the oil cooler, I still added reinforcement to prevent cracking (Image 3). I don't expect to need the cross brace, though, as I did in the RV-6A. I did make the opening for the ignition wires, though it may just get a cover plate depending on how I route the LSE wiring. Mostly I spent a lot of time trimming the side plate to fit around the head cover gasket.
