Brief Description:  Catching up

Almost two years later, and I'm finally back at it. Part of the first year was spent waiting for the new panel and, frankly, I was a bit discouraged and needed a break from the project. The time wasn't entirely idle; I got my SCUBA open water certification the next summer. Then NAU asked me to teach a full-time schedule for a year, which left no time for the airplane. But that's behind me now. I've got at least a semester off and both a brand-new engine and brand-new panel to work with.

Aerotronics got the panel back to me in fairly short order and it looks great (sorry the picture does not do it justice. Along with the G900X screens, it now has two GRT sport EFIS's whose main job is to manage the dual VP-X system that replaces the VP-200. But they also provide a backup to the G900X. There were some minor changes to deal with the lost functionality in the switchover from VP-200 to VP-X, but it's mostly in the panel itself with little to change in the airframe wiring.

The engine is a reman from Barret Precision Engineering, IO-540X(C4B5) with low-compression cylinders per my request(I'm following Van's recommendation for horsepower, despite the A/C and backup alternator). It was test run on magnetos, which were then removed in anticipation of my dual Lightspeed installation. Ok, now I'm excited to get back to construction.
