Brief Description:  Riveting forward side skins part 2

While waiting for bucking help this morning, I experimented with how much I could reach on my own. I was able to get all the butt joint over the spar and a good bit of the side structure, which I completed on both sides. I was also able to determine that I could reach part of the structure both forward and aft of the door posts, including a lot of the rivets in the baggage door area.

Later, Judith showed up and we got the left side forward of the spar, with the exception of the parts I knew I could reach. Then we paused to help Jack Keegan perform a gear extension test on his PropJet. Afterward, Jack took over bucking duties and we did the left side aft of the spar, again excepting the rivets i could reach myself. One unexpected trouble area was right behind the spar with the rivets in close proximity to the bolts in the spar. I had to remove the keeper bolts holding the spacers outboard of the skins - no surprise there - and also the AN3 bolts immediately inside the skins so a bucking bar would fit. After riveting, the bolts were replaced but not torqued again.

Rivet count: 489 Total: 13478 - Plus 549 done at Van's
