Brief Description:  Fabricate and match-drill aft side skins

Long day today. I got a table saw yesterday and laminated a couple of 3/4" X 3 1/2" pieces of poplar. Today I cut the board per the dimensions in the instructions and also fabricated the bending angles. I used the board to clamp the right skin to the table edge and added the angles and bent the skin. It went easily but took much more bending than I expected to finally get to 60 degrees (30 on the protractor level in the first picture is subtracted from 90 at perpendicular). I fitted it to the fuselage along with the bulkhead section from the tail cone and it fit beautifully; much better than the progressive bend used on my RV-6A. You can see how smooth the bend looks in the second picture.

After that it was just a lot of clecoing and repeating with the left skin (and the addition of the spacers for the baggage door area and the forward side). Once the skins were in place, I match-drilled everything not marked oiut (I scribbled with the Sharpie on the blue plastic; it'll peel off and the marks will be gone), including the #30 holes and the bent edge along the bottom.
