Brief Description:  Install left wing wiring harness

Yesterday I received the wing harnesses from Aerotonics. Today I cut a piece of conduit the length of the left wing and threaded it into the holes in the wing ribs. Using my shop vacuum, I ran a 'mouse' tied to a lenth of twine down the conduit. Then I drilled the penetrations in the conduit for the pitot heat controller, aileron trim servo, and fuel sender. I had to remove the terminals for the strobe from the connector, which was too big for the conduit, then I attached the wingtip end of the harness to the twine at the wing root and used the twine to pull the harness through the conduit. As each intermediate lead reached the conduit, I fed the ends in and continued pulling until the first lead, the pitot heat control, appeared in the conduit penetration at that location. I used a pick to fish the lead out the hole and continued pulling until the next lead appeard, repeating the process until all three leads were through their respective conduit penetrations and then pulled the harness until it was fully seated in the conduit with sufficient wire at each location for connection and enough harness at the root end for connection at the fuselage. The strobe terminals were reinserted into the connector (Aerotronics supplied a wiring diagram with the order of each connector, both the pre-wired strobe connectors and the yet-to-be-wired connectors for the trim and roll servos). The leads were coiled and tidied up to be out of the way until connection. A length of twine was left in the conduit after pulling; it was knotted and cut at each end and secured to the harness with electrical tape for future use in case more wire needed to be pulled through the conduit.
