Brief Description:  Fast Taxi Test

Pre-flighted the aircraft. Brad Ransom as test pilot, self as crew, entered aircraft and started engine. Verified systems (note: BMA engine monitor had intermittant communication loss first few seconds, fine throughout rest of test) and engine readings. Noted interference noise (tin canning sound) as flaps were raised, flaps operated normally otherwise. Proceeded to taxi to runway 3, winds calm, Brad advanced throttle briefly to max, airspeed came alive around 20 knots. Allowed speed to go to 45 knots, raised nosewheel, good rudder authority. Oil temp around 110F, CHTs all Ok, so taxied back and repeated fast taxi at 50 knots. Brad pronounced the aircraft ready to fly; we taxied back to the hangar and inspected the engine compartment and found no problems. Ops test of the flaps revealed a rub by the internal mechanism on the left cover which will be corrected before first flight.
