Brief Description:  PAP - G5 - Pitot Static Leak Check

All of the steps in this section passed with some specific notes as follows:

Initial check of pitot system revealed a big leak. Disconnected pitot tubing at aft end of pitot tube and drove airspeed to 130 knots and it stayed steady indicating that leak is in pitot tube or the connection. The pitot tube was breached during construction and red RTV sealant was added when installing pitot block lock screw. Removed screw and added additional red RTV sealant. Also added red RTV sealant to pitot tubing-to pitot tube connection joints (ensuring none entered air passage) and safety wired into place. Performed leak check again and airspeed stayed steady at 130 knots for over 8 minutes with no leakage. Unable to drop to 120 knots and time leak rate. System is now nice and tight.

Initial check of static system revealed a big leak. Denise crawled into aft end of airplane and added additional red RTV around static ports and tubing. She also added red RTV around joints of tee fitting. Performed leak check again and still unable to hold suction. Did not have modeling clay as called for in the PAP so improvised with other methods. Finally put mouth over static port and drew in until altitude was around 2100 feet then put tongue over port. Altitude stayed steady indicating that test setup was causing leak. Bought modeling clay and connected 1/8-inch tubing and syringe to port using clay. Performed leak check again and altitude held steady at 2100 feet for over 15 minutes (even climbed a couple hundred feet). Unable to drop to 1900 feet and time leak rate. System is nice and tight.
