Brief Description:  Filled & Bled Brake System

Page 35-06
Filled brake system with MIL-PRF-5606H hydraulic fluid. (step 7) Borrowed oil can from fellow RV-12 builder and connected to brake bleed screws with 1/8" plastic tubing. Placed a small cup and rags under brake fluid reservoir after removing cap to catch most of the excess fluid. Denise watched the lines as I pumped fluid from the brake bleed screws. As mentioned by most builders, had trouble getting all of the air out of the lines but stayed with it and got everything out except for one stubborn air slug entering the passenger's left brake cylinder. Eventually had Denise pump while I disconnected the brake line and bled out the fluid/air slug and then reconnected the line while Denise continued to pump. That did the trick! Disconnected the oil can and plastic line, ensure bleed screws were tight, installed protection caps, then noticed a very small dot of air near the tee just before going into the reservoir. Decided to let that one go for now instead of the likelihood of introducing additional air by trying to bleed some more. Hopefully that small dot of air will work its way out of the system through the reservoir. Denise then stood on the brakes while I checked all of the connections for leaks. None found! Considering the brakes filled and properly bled.
