Brief Description: New Parts & Cooler Box Door Install
Post on 09/30/2016 mentioned that I screwed up cooler box face FF-1204A and matching cooler box hinge FF-1206A. Received new parts from Van's and made new parts (page 49-02, step 4 and page 49-03, steps 7 and 8) with less drama.
Riveted cooler box face and matching cooler box hinge to firewall. (step 1)
Riveted upper and lower cooler box ribs to firewall and then to cooler box face. (steps 2 and 3)
Covered firewall differently than called out in the plans based on lack of success of other builders. Used packaging tape with a thin layer of olive oil (did not have vaseline) as a parting agent. We'll see if that works in a few days. (step 5)
Scoured aft face of cooler box door and cleaned with Acetone. (step 6)
Added bead of red RTV on aft face of cooler box door, then installed door and secured with hinge pin. Used duct tape and secured door in the closed position and will wait a few days for sealant to cure. Safety wired hinge pin to upper cooler box rib. (steps 4 and 7)
