Page 38-08
Separated oil door hinge gooseneck and hinge lugs and deburred. Machine countersunk rivet holes in oil door, then riveted gooseneck and doubler to oil door. (steps1 and 2)
Aligned oil door in cowl opening and match drilled holes. Drilled holes for camlock receptacles. (step 3)
Final drilled holes in oil door recess to 1/2" and machine countersunk camlock receptacle rivet holes. Riveted camlock receptacles to oil door recess. Secured camlock fasteners to oil door with camlock washers. (steps 4 and 5)
Temporarily secured hinge lugs to oil door assembly, installed oil door, and match drilled top cowl to hinge lugs. Removed oil door, countersunk holes in top cowl, and riveted hinge lugs to top cowl. (steps 6 through 9)
PAGE 38-08 IS COMPLETE

Page 38-09
Attached oil door assembly to hinge lugs. Had to trim the top of the oil door and open a few areas at the top of the oil door recess so that door would open without binding. Tightened hardware so door stays open when lifted. (step 1)
Concerned about gap at each bottom cowl corner, so decided to drill holes in cowl at cowl attach plates prior to doing the cowl close-out steps. Drilled holes through cowling from the outside while adjusting to align cowling with fuselage. Installed screws and washers. Still have a bigger gap than anywhere else on the cowling but really not visible unless bending down to take a peak. (equivalent of steps 8, 9, and 10)
Removed nose gear attach bolt and attached cowl close-out bracket. Retorqued bolt to 65 inch-pounds. Bent cowl bottom close-out, as needed, and placed in installed position. Attached close-out to close-out bracket, aligned edges, and clamped to bottom cowl. Match drilled holes in close-out through bottom cowl. Drill forward six holes from inside cowl and the two aft holes from the outside. (steps 2 through 5)
Unable to continue because ran out of K1000-08 nutplates and have more on order.
