Brief Description:  Started Top Cowl Fit

Bill came down to help trim the top cowl and was a big help. Performed multiple top cowl install/mark/sand/reinstall cycles. Prior to finalizing fit, drilled holes in inner most holes of upper cowl hinges - found this to be helpful to do earlier than plans call for to keep the cowling in the same relationship during each cycle. Generally happy with the results but noticed that the left side hinge line has inboard/outboard gap of about 1/2" (top cowl overlapping bottom cowl). Pulling the bottom cowl out helps with the alignment but toward the front is especially hard to align. Trimmed the forward flange some more and cleaned up some excess expoxy helped but still not fitting as well as I would like. When aligning the left hinge line inboard/outboard, the gap between the top and bottom cowl edges is pretty close. Will try and align hinge line and drill upper half of side hinge and see how that works out. (steps 1 and 2)

Marked top cowl knuckle locations and carved out the openings. Drilled and clecoed remaining forward hole locations. (steps 3 and 4)
