Brief Description:  Cleaned Tank & Then Bad Day (SB 13-12-19)

Spent most of the time scraping and cleaning off old sealant for the tank top skin and flanges. Meticulously cleaned tank and had Denise go over with a fine tooth comb to make sure there was no obvious debris left inside the tank. (step 12 - complete)

Mixed up a batch of CS-3204 B2 Flamemaster sealant and added a thin layer (or so I thought) to the outboard doubler and inserted Cherrymax rivets. I set the CR3213-4-4 rivet and looked inside only to see the doubler moved away from the bulkhead. Drilled out the rivet and reset the doubler and set two of the CR3212-4-4 rivets and then pushed on the replacement CR3213-4-4 rivet only to find that the doubler was again pushed back away from the bulkhead. It looks like the shop head is pulling through the holes in the doubler. I suspect that the layer of sealant on the doubler was too thick plus old sealant in the countersunk holes on the tank bracket did not let the rivet fully insert. I need to order more rivets before proceeding.

I'm a bit bummed at this point so decided to move on to a couple of fluid fitting installs while I still have a batch of sealant still available.
