Brief Description:  Fitted Tailcone Fairing

Page 12-09
Clecoed left side fairing halves into place, aligned with tape on right side, and checked clearance around stabilator skin. Identified a few areas to trim, then drill two additional holes on right side of fairing halves. Removed fairing, trimmed, and reinstalled multiple times until adequate clearance was obtained. Clecoed fairing halves again and drill #40 holes in remaining attach points. Removed fairings, cleaned up, reinstalled and checked fit once again. Had to do some more trimming on fairing halves to provide adequate clearance around spar box cutout and rudder horn. Drilled #27 holes, removed fairing halves, cleaned up, reinstalled and checked fit one more time. A few more areas to trim. I think I finally got a good fit. (steps 3 through 8)

Match drilled nutplate holes. Dimpled nutplates and holes in tailcone assembly. Not sure how others did it but I could not get the rivet squeezer close enough to the top inboard rivet hole for upper inboard nutplate. Ended up using a pop rivet at those locations. Riveted nutplates into place. (steps 1 through 6).
