Originally, the plans in Section 21 allowed nutplates to be installed in lieu of loose hardware for the com antenna installation. During fuselage skin replacement, elected to re-install nutplates. I noticed in updates to Section 21, the nutplate option is no longer there. The hardware called out in the plans for the antenna came in the antenna box so decided to remove the nutplates and use the hardware that came with the antenna. Additionally, the installation instructions that came with the antenna installs a backing plate and a gasket while the KAI is silent about these parts. Decided to install the backer plate and the gasket. Secured antenna using hardware called out in the plans. Connected coax cable to the com antenna. (steps 1 and 2) Installed the transponder antenna and secured with the star washer and nut. Connected coax cable to the transponder antenna. (steps 3 and 4) PAGE 42M-07 IS COMPLETE
