Brief Description:  Removed Control Rods & Corner Skins

This entry covers several scattered days. Hopefully can start to spend more time to get this done now that other obligations are addressed (for now).

Cleaned the skin and rib areas at the forward intersection of the bottom skin, forward step bulkhead, and associated rib flanges. Cleaning accomplished by rubbing affected areas with rags soaked in Acetone to remove primer. As required, used stiff nylon brush and Acetone to get into corners. Scrubbed corrosion areas with Scotch Brite pad soaked in Acetone (did a real good job removing corrosion). Still need to treat raw aluminum with Alumiprep 33, Alodine 1201, and prime.

Removed both flight control rods between the mixer and flaperon torque arms. Noticed that mouse stuff dripped on top surface of left control rod and pooled at the bottom. Original plan was to clean and treat, however, corrosion was deeper than other areas and not comfortable with the amount of aluminum that was removed from the rod to remove corrosion. Since this is a critical component, decided to build a new control rod instead of treat. The other rod was fine after a brief cleaning.

Removed fuselage corner skins from the landing gear legs forward to the steps. On the left side, had to cut the wires to the temperature probe (in lieu of removing entire harness). Will need to splice wires back together when skins are re-installed. Since skins are off and damage is significant, decided to replace with news one instead of trying to treat.
