I have been avoiding this section knowing that I didn't think things through when I installed the string through the wing in Section 16. The outboard end of the string was taped to the outboard wing rib and I wasn't sure that I would be able to access it through the small oval hole in the wing tip extension. Unfortunately I was right. Bit the bullet and removed the wing tip extension. It took some time to break the extension loose from the sealant but eventually prevailed without damaging anything.
Removed W-1205-L terminal bracket from wing and cut wires at ring terminals. Installed template and match drilled holes into wing rib. Removed template and deburred holes. (page 31A-02, steps 1 through 11 - LH wing).
Scuffed both W-00028 doubler plates with Scotch Brite pad, cleaned with Acetone, and primed. Had half a can of Tempo green primer left over so used that since the wing was originally primed with that primer. Riveted doubler plate to LH wing rib. Attached ES-00081 standoffs to wing rib using Loctite 243. While tightening the MS35206-215 screw, it broke off inside the standoff. There was very little torque on the screw and surprised that the screw sheared off. Used another screw and standoff to finish installation. Need to extract the broken screw from the standoff before using for the other wing. (page 31A-03, steps 1 through 3 - LH wing).
Fabricated both strobe power wires and both strobe synch wires. With Michael's help and string, pulled strobe power wire and strobe sych wire through the LH wing. (page 31A-04, steps 4 and 5; also step 8 - LH wing).
