Brief Description:  Built Wheel Assy & Installed Main Gear Legs

Built up nose wheel and tire assembly. Used corn starch in lieu of talcum powder - couldn't find any plus not good to inhale. Torqued wheel bolts and nuts to 100 in-lbs. Inflated/deflated 3 times.
Built up both main wheel and tire assemblies. Torqued all bolts and nuts to 100 in-lbs. Inflated/deflated 3 times. Noticed that the end of step 7 says to lockwire brake disk screws. The screws are button head cap screws with nowhere for safety wire to go. There are Nordlock washers under the screws and should be sufficient as the locking feature for the disks. (page 35-02, steps 3 through 8).

Installed fluid fittings in inboard main gear attach fittings using Loctite 567 thread sealant. Lightly coated inboard and outboard wear plates with grease. Was unable to get wear plate and outboard main gear attach bracket to clear the rivet on the forward side of the bulkhead. Similar problem that other builders experienced. Drilled out the fourth inboard rivet holding the seat pan to the bulkhead. Loosely installed inboard main gear attach bracket, wear plate, and doubler. No way to also loosley install the outboard main gear attach bracket and slide gear leg through per the directions. With Denise's help, installed gear leg into inboard attach bracket and installed center bolt. Plans callout AN6-24 but I didn't have one and it makes no sense to installed a drilled shank bolt. Installed AN6-23A bolt instead. Loosely installed outboard wear plate and main gear attach bracket. Torqued all bolts and applied torque stripe. Re-installed LP4-3 rivet in seat pan. Repeated for other side. (page 35-03, steps 1 and 2).
