Brief Description:  Installed Brake Lines

Used technique to installed brass inserts into brake lines as found on VansAirForce website. Ken from Van's recommended drilling into plastic tube with #29 drill bit (about 1/2" deep) prior to installing brass insert in lieu of using hot water as recommended on page 27-02, step 3. Worked very well with no issues.

Installed brass elbows into ports of master brake cylinders. Fabricated and installed cross-over brake lines. Line nuts were torqued to brass fittings by tightening finger tight, then tightening one full turn (page 27-04, steps 1 through 5).
Page 27-04 is complete.

Fabricated F-1289C-L & -R main brake lines, installed nuts on aft end, and routing lines forward. Installed nuts on forward end of main brake lines. Secured main brake lines to right tunnel rib with cushioned clamp (page 27-05, steps 1 through 4).

Fabricated and installed reservoir brake lines. Line nuts were torqued to brass fittings by tightening finger tight, then tightening one full turn (page 27-06, steps 1 and 2).
Page 27-06 is complete.

SECTION 27 IS COMPLETE
Note that installation of rudder pedal assembly (page 27-03, steps 8 and 9) and securing main brake lines to brake master cylinders (page 27-05, step 5) are not complete. Based on recommendations by other builders, delaying installing rudder pedal assembly until after fuselage wiring is installed in the finishing kit.
