Was able to stretch the lower backing strip to get holes to line up enough to install screws but no luck on the upper backing strip. Fabricated a new backing strip from scratch so holes line up with holes drilled in wing skin and lens.
Made landing light ground wire and attached to right landing light rib (page 40-04, steps 8 and 9). First experience with Molex crimps; turned out good. Page 40-04 is complete.
Installed and riveted landing light ribs. Routed wires through landing light ribs. Crimped pins and inserted into male Molex connector (page 40-05, steps 6 through 13). Page 40-05 is complete.
Installed pins on landing light wires and inserted into female Molex connector. Connected male and female Molex connectors and installed landing light between landing light ribs (page 40-06, steps 1 through 7). Figure 1 calls out AeroLEDs flat washers and lockwasher but don't have them. Currently installed light with AN3-3A bolts and flat washers. Need to send and email to Van's and find out what washers to use on the light. Update: Van's recommended contacting AeroLEDS directly. Talked with Susan at AeroLEDS who said new person in shipping and probably forgot to include them. She was very apologetic and mailed proper washers at no charge.
Connected 12V power supply to applicable terminal at terminal bracket and was able to turn on landing light in both steady and pulse modes. FREAKIN' COOL! Installed landing light lens and backing strips (page 40-06, steps 8 and 9). Page 40-06 is complete.
