Finished installing pop rivets on upper surface of both aft skins (page 09-08, step 9). Installed upper and lower control horns and torqued mount bolts to 25 inch-pounds (page 09-10, step 1). Also installed shims between aft spar and control horns. Need to follow-up with and email to Vans to get official approval to install shims. Information from blogs not sufficient to properly document the addition of shims. Temporarily installed counterbalance arm to brackets with called out hardware (not torqued). Final drilled and installed counterbalance weights to counterbalance arm. Torqued attach nuts to 25 inch-pounds. Page 09-10 is complete.
STABILATOR IS COMPLETE!
Update: Received email from Ken at Van's on 10-26-10 that the shims at the control horns are fine. Now I feel better :)
