Brief Description:  Horizontal Stabilizer Building

Spent the entire day in the garage working today while Tracy and the kids were out of town. Dad joined me for a few hours in the morning.

Dad used the new band saw to create the short, medium and long stringers while I was working on preparing the front spar for priming. This included drilling, deburring and prepping the spar, doubler, the attach brackets along with the longest of the stringers.

While the primer was drying on the spar and associated pieces I moved on to deburing and prepping the various inspar and nose ribs spars. Prepping included bending the two inspar ribs and trimming the ribs as required.

Once the primer was dry I riveted the doubler and attach points to the spar and set it aside for a bit.

After the spar was ready and ribs prepped I moved on to steps 1-8 (all steps) on page 8-8. Assembled the nose and interspar ribs to the spar, final drilled the ribs to the spar. Pulled the skins out of storage and started assembling the HS. At the end of the day I had the skins in the cradles I borrowed from Jerry Johnson with the front spar and all ribs clecoed in place.

Airplane drew blood today. Not long after my dad left I was drilling the front spar and front spar attachment brackets when I drilled into the middle finger in ly left hand. It hurt like heck. After a few expletives, and a lot of pressure I continued working. Took a few hours for the bleeding to stop. Had a band aid on through the next day to keep the pain and bleeding down.
