Brief Description: Deburr and Dimple Spars and ribs (First Mistake)
Disassembled the skeleton to deburr all the holes drilled previously and dimple the ribs/spars. Step 8 says to machine countersink holes in the spar flange common with the skin. First mistake!! I countersunk beyond the common holes and performed countersinking all the way to the bottom of the spar.
Posted a question to the good folks at Vans Air Force (VAF) and learned I could salvage the part by drilling to a larger hole size and use 1/8" diameter rivets vs the 3/32 called out.
Something in one of the replies got me thinking so I took a second look at the countersinks I made incorrectly. I was countersinking for the rivet and not the dimpled skin hole. As a result I was good to go with the 3/32 rivet on the mistake holes but needed to add a little to the depth of the skin common holes to accept the dimpled skin.
