2 hours to finish the rib-to-spar rivets. These are the most difficult rivets to get set well so far. Figured out that to have a chance of setting these well, needed to have a fresh "wedge" between the rivet head and the rivet puller nose. The wedge is just a little made-on-the-spot tool of about 3/8" wide .125 aluminum about an inch long with a wedge shape sanded in one end with a #40 hole drilled through the wedge. The wedge allows the riveter nose to be angled to the rivet head. Also found that it helps to bend the stem of the rivet 20-30 degrees into the needed direction. Had an awful time on 2/23 doing a few of the rivets in the outer wing. Didn't even want to try the -6 rivets. But started fresh this morning with a new wedge and things went pretty well. Spent the other 3 hours riveting skins - got the lower aft skin, upper aft skin, installed the lighting conduit and pitot/static hoses, and riveted most of the upper leading edge skin.
