Brief Description:  Wing assembly

Deburred the 3 remaining aft ribs. Drilled and riveted conduit stand off brackets to 4 of the outer forward ribs. These act to transition the wiring conduit from the forward tooling hole to the aft tooling hole so that if a landing light is added, the conduit will be at the aft edge of the forward rib. I'm not planning any kind of night capability with this machine, but if I ever was to add it, having the conduit out of the way will be a plus. Deburred both sides of the forward and inboard rows of holes on the lower aft skin. This just leaves the forward root doubler and forward/inboard rows of the upper aft skin to be deburred. Spent about 1/2 of the time today riveting the ribs to the spar. Made a doubler for the forward end of the aft root rib due to some close edge distances along the forward side of the rib. Also added some extra rivets in the forward area. Then installed the root ribs to the spar, recommended for access. Riveted the aft spar to the ribs, then started on the main spar riveting. Got the 4 inboard ribs riveted (the only ones requiring -6 length rivets). These were tough to get into place. For some I re-reamed the holes with the 12" #30 drill bit to get the rivet in. Then the rivet puller broke. Turns out a nut inside the lower cylinder fell off, allowing the riveter to disassemble itself. I took it apart, letting out a bunch of oil which should have remained in the upper cylinder. This riveter was the cheapest one on eBay at the time. I got it put back together and it now spews oil out of every joint and orifice. Next stop may be Harbor Freight for another (better) one.
