Brief Description:  Engine instrumentation

Pulled off the baffles. Rechecked the Sonex Engine Installation Guide for the instrumentation installation instructions and plug wire instructions. Trimmed the fins as required for the CHT's. Drilled holes in the exhaust pipes for the EGT's. Got all of these installed. On the E1 engine monitor I'm using, there are only 2 CHT's and 2 EGT's. I am monitoring the forwards cylinder on each side for CHT and the center cylinder on each side for EGT. Seems counter intuitive to me to monitor the forwards cylinders instead of the most aft cylinders, but the experience in the field is that the forwards cylinders are more affected by the baffle plate at the air duct entrance, and the cylinders behind that remain cool enough based on the sizing and structure of the Sonex baffle. Got the plug wires installed. When first putting the wires through the baffle grommet you think - this is so hard to get the 4th wire through there's no way 2 more wires are going to fit, but the grommet is pretty stretchy. Then you think there's no way I can get the wires on the plugs while reaching up inside the baffle, but it's not that hard. Typical Sonex design - inexpensive, low parts count, light weight.
