Brief Description:  Cowling items

Spent about an hour making the support ring that holds the forward end of the cowling in the right place relative to the prop flange. Made the 1/8" spacer out of a scrap from the windshield. Spent the rest of the time marking and cutting the holes in the cowling itself. Used the installation guide dimensions for the exhausts and inlets. Made the prop flange opening the same size as the flange for now. Will sand it out to just clear for cowl fitting, then increase the gap to 1/8 - 3/16 after the cowling is fitted. The hole needs to be tight to the prop flange at first to provide some area for fasteners. The 3300 prop flange is larger than what the plans show for the spacer, so I made the spacer twice. Used a dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut out the openings. Works pretty well. Can get straight cuts and doesn't cause the cowling to shake around the way a reciprocating saw would. This is the old configuration Jabiru cowling - narrower front end and molded-in exhaust scoops.
