Brief Description:  Gascolator installation

Spent about 1 1/2 hours getting the firewall-to-gascolator brackets done. Made a paper mock-up, held the gascolator on its saddle clamp bracket in place and folded the paper until I figured out what dimensions to use for the firewall brackets. They mount the gasco to be exactly vertical while the plane is tail-down on the ground. In flight it will be 10 deg. from vertical. Some Sonex gascos are mounted direct to the firewall, putting them 20 from vertical on the ground and 30 from vertical in flight. Made one of these out of .025 and cleco-clamped it to the gasco on its SCB. Figured that would work, so then made a pair of these brackets out of .060. Spent another 1/2 hour or so drilling these firewall brackets to the firewall and riveting them on. Installed the fasteners between the firewall brackets and the SCB and then realized I was not done trimming excess weight off the SCB. Removed it, trimmed it and reinstalled. Spent another hour or so getting the saddle clamp right. First one was too short. Second one was too long. Third one was an exact duplicate of the second (D'OH!). Got it just how I wanted it on the 4th try. Spent maybe 1/2 hour or so adding the fittings to the gascolator and carb. Spent the last 1/2 hour or so making up the gascolator to carb hose, then deciding to cut 1 inch out of it. Did that, and reinstalled the end fitting.
