Carved the TQ controls from black walnut. I love the look of this wood with a natural oil finish - and it's the same wood as the stick grips I plan on buying. This wood will be trimmed throughout the interior of the airplane. It works well, looks good and is fairly light.
Turned out to be quite the job, but it's probably because I'm fussy and don't have the right tools! Maybe the wife will let me buy some better ones..... The "carving" was done with a belt sander, hand sand paper and files (permagrit).
