I disassembled the parts of the skeleton for priming and dimpling. I decided to try and scuff the surfaces prior to dimpling to see if it would save the Scotchbright. It worked well. I also ran out of the primer I was using. Tried to get more but they were out of what I was using. I picked up a can of NAPA Self Etching Primer 7220. I think it covered better, dried faster and had better adhesion than the other I had been using. And it was on sale to boot! Unfortunately it was a different color, light grey. I was able to shoot all exterior surfaces with the new primer. At least all the parts will be a uniform color.
