Decided to check the panel fit and avionics cover to check it all works.. good job I did! The internal avionics cover curves more than the canopy front panel, and the DME wont fit!
After some fiddling and head scratching, I figured that a small cut out in the avionics cover would allow it to fit, and the canopy would close. Patched the new shape with fibreglass, and just need to let it cure.
The panel edge needed trimiming to fit, and the cowling fit took a while to sort out. All worked out at the end!
