Decided to attach the canopy to the fuselage to make sure it all fitted together.. gopd job I did!
I had to straighten the hinge and make a long drill to ream out the holes where paint had leaked in. Moved the insertion point to the front, rather than from inside the baggage compartment. Tis made it all much easier.
Fixing the canopy bubble to the frame whist not attached to the fuselage was obviously not a good idea, despite my confidence in the rigidity of the frame. The back end of the frame was slightly distorted, resulting in a twist of the frame when the canopy was closed... not much, but enough to starin the hinge in the long run.
Fitted the locking mechanism again,and although I could close it up, it wasnt easy..
After much thought, I concluded that the only way to resolve the issue was to cut off the fusekage overhang at the back, and scarf in a new piece when the canopy was closed.
More fibreglassing....just waiting for it all to dry, then trimming, filling and sanding smooth.
