Picture 1 shows a tool I use to work in very tight spaces. This is the tip rib aft most rivet holes. These are dimple dies that have been welded to the tip of some vice grips. It lets you get into very tight spots. I have a similar set that is flat faced for squeezing the rivets that go in these tight spots. I like getting rivets as far back as possible...so you need to do something like this, or just leave a large gap.
Anyway, I made a simple form for the lead counterweight and melted up some shot on my camp stove. I speed things along with the propane torch.
