Mounting of the aft cockpit rudder pedals was the next order of business. There is a 1/4 phenolic block that gets mounted to the inboard intercostals to provide the pivot point next to where the rudder cable will attach. In the plans the phenolic mount is located in the center of the intercostal hole. However, when I fabricated a block in this location, I noticed that the rudder pedal shaft was crooked. It seems that with the floor located per the plans, and the outboard mounting bracket per plans, there will be a misalignment. Also, if you mount the pedals in the center of the hole, it appears that the space available for the rudder cables (below the seat) will be minimal and may have interference in the future. As a result, I opted to move the phenolic mounting provisions off center as shown in image 1. Since this required an unsymmetrical load path, I also backed the blocks up with a reinforcement plate as shown in image 2 (overkill I'm sure). The final provision for both pedals is shown in image 3.
