Brief Description: My Worst Possible Nightmare Came True
Well, it has happened, a mistake so bad that it is making me question whether to continue with the project. I moved the tailcone to the upright position, and reworked a holding fixture to get ready to build the tail. I also purchased a laser level with 90 degree self leveling lines. I put the fuselage in the fixture and started to line it up. Problem is, I can either line up the back, or the front of the fueslage...but not both at the same time. Somehow, I have built a serious twist into the fuselage. Was the assembly not ridgid enough when I removed it from the fixture with one skin? Was it misalined from the start? I don't know, but this is a serious setback. It is amazing that there is so much twist because I thought I was being so careful every step of the way.
Update: I just pulled the right skin off ( that's the skin I put on after removing the fuselage from the fixture) and the twist in the fuselage is gone. So WARNING when you take your fuselage out of the fixture to add the second skin, make sure it stays twist free somehow.
