Brief Description:  Started Leading Edge Brake

The airplane project is taking a back seat to traveling this summer and working house projects. None the less, I started on a bending brake to form the leading edges of the horizontal stabilizer and wing leading edge skins. These skins must be formed with an accurate radius that varies between the root and tip. The bending brake is a variation of plans sent to me by Peter Carr. It uses screw jacks at either end to pull a male forming die down between female forms. The male punch will be 96 inches long, so a pretty substantial tool is needed to preclude bending the tool instead of the sheet metal. Step one was to obtain a fairly large box section to use as a base. I had some 5 inch square box in the garage, but it was not long enough, so I needed to weld an extension to it.
