Brief Description:  Right wing spar sealing

The wing leading edge sealing process was started by sealing the spar cap strips and ribs. I used Sky Geek CS 3204 A-2 sealant for this. It is an AMS8802E Type 2 sealant. The A code means it is a self-leveling brush type, while the 2 signifies that it starts to harden after 2 hours. The areas to be sealed were first masked off with the blue tape as shown in image 1 then brushed on. I found that a 1" wide disposable brush worked well for this. I modified the brush slightly by trimming off half the bristle length. This made the brush stiffness more compatible with the sealant viscosity.
Image 2 & 3 show the coating after tape was removed. The self-leveling process results in a surprisingly smooth surface. I selected black sealant color. I wanted gray, but it was not available at the time of my order.
Dick Eaves recommends doing this sealing process 3 times (three coats) That will require re-taping before each coat since the tape must be removed before the sealant hardens.
