Brief Description: Adjusting wing leading edge prebend
As mentioned in the last entry, I spent time adjusting the wing skin prebend. That is, the bend in the skin that is manually input aft of the press formed leading edge radius that results from the tool. Image 1 shows two sheets of wax paper with grease between them that I insert between the tool and metal to make the pressing job require much less force. Once I pushed the skins down into the tool again, I grasped the overhang and adjusted the prebend as needed to get as much of a good fit as possible. Again, the goal was to have the skins fit to the ribs without really having to pull them in place. The hope is that this will minimize any pucker and pull-down at the rivet locations. I'm trying to get as smooth of a skin as possible since it is a laminar flow section.
