Brief Description:  Locating Fin Fwd Spar Anchor Points

I did the key locating and drilling for the fin forward spar anchor points today. As I think I mentioned before, when the fin is offset, the amount of room I had left to locate the left side attach bracket was smaller than I would like. As a result, I decided to add another attach bracket to each side and to switch the attach bolts from the fuselage side to the spar side. Picture 1 shows the two attach brackets on each side. I first located the spar on the aircraft in the proper rake angle, then clamped the brackets to the spar. Once this was done, I removed the spar from the plane so that it was easier to drill the holes for the attach bolts. (I will be using 3 attach bolts per side) Once the brackets were clecoed to the spar, I reinstalled the spar, trued it up using the laser level, then drilled the attach holes into the bulkhead being careful not to drill into the rivet locations that already exist on the bulkhead. In the next buld session, I will remove the spar but leave the attach brackets so that I can drill the holes for the inboard brackets.
