Brief Description:  Cleko'd Rudder

I continued on with the rudder today, since I'm at a stopping point with the vertical stabilizer. There are several two-piece triangle stiffeners that I've had to break apart and trim to fit the tips together. Since I don't have a band saw, I used a coarse grinding wheel. In doing so, one side of a stiffener tip got caught in the grinding wheel, bent, and cracked. Unusable....

So, there's a third piece for me to replace. I went ahead and marked it as "DO NOT USE", then continued to cleko the rudder together to get an idea where the steps were taking me. It's fun seeing all these 2-D strips become 3-D.

A band saw would ease the trimming of these sections (there's a lot), so that's on order as well as a drill press. I thought it was optional to have the press, but the instructions in several places explicitly require one.

I'm at another stopping point now until the two tools and three parts arrive. I'll then practice priming and riveting, then continue with the assembly. In the meantime, I'll organize my shop to flow more efficiently. No logs for housekeeping.

**It's evening now, and I just ordered the three pieces I've banged up. $31 bucks, not too bad. They'll be here by Thursday!
