Brief Description:  Empennage Inventory

Six hours logged today. Some builders log every hour they're in the garage. I'll log only the hours directly interacting with aircraft assembly. Inventory counts in my mind.

Kayla accepted delivery of the empennage on 1FEB16 while I was at work. The driver remarked she was a lot stronger than she looked. That's my girl!

Van's specified that I claim shipping damages within 5 days and inventory shortages within 30 days, so I took a day of leave to inventory it on 2FEB16. Without a crowbar, I opened the crate with the back end of a hammer and a wood block.

It was an incredibly well packaged kit sorted into sub-kits for easy inventory. However, two skins were damaged with small dents. I sent Van's an email with pictures, and they replied in under 30 minutes they were shipping me two replacement skins at no cost! Amazing customer service. The rest of the inventory went smoothly. Lots of small parts to count and sort in the shop. Just a few bolts, washers, and rivets were missing out of the hundreds of small pieces inventoried. Since I met the time window, those are also being sent free of charge.

I'm planning on assembling the first pieces for the vertical stabilizer this weekend.
