Brief Description:  Door seals

After painting the inside of the door I needed to removed the tape around the edges of the windows so the tape did not become too stuck to the windows. I purchased McMaster Carr 3/8" bulb door seals and installed them per VAn's directions. I elected to use McMaster Carr seals as I believe they are more robust than the stock Van's. Initially I installed one seal to the left door. The adhesive I purchased from McMaster Carr did not stick to the EPDM rubber of the seal. I removed the seal, cleaned it and the door edge and sought another adhesive. After a long weekend search and several trials with adhesives like liquid nails and RTV sealant, I called 3M. The have a weatherstrip adhesive 08011 that is designed to stick to EPDM rubber. I sanded the paint off the door edge and used that adhesive. I let it cure at 70 degrees for 72 hours. I attached the door; it is a tight fit, but I believe it will be durable and prevent water and air from leaking into the cabin.
