Brief Description:  Wing Stand

"Well, over this weekend work preping the wing ribs was pretty well avoided. I still have to finish deburring all of the right wing ribs... These ribs sure do take some time to prep!!! On friday I picked up my wing stand posts from the welder / steel supply shop and ran to Home Depot to gather up all of the required hardware etc.

- Friday, after getting home from picking up the wing stand and harware, I finished deburring the Left wing ribs... (time logged under wing ribs post).

- Saturday, I cleaned and prepped the wing stand posts for paint & painted them with a ""hammered"" grey finish. I did some other odds & ends... Deburring etc.

-Sunday, I made up all of the brackets for the wing stand. For any one planning to use this type of wing stand, I would recommend using 1-1/2 inch angle for all of the brackets rather than trying to used a smaller size angle for the bolted corner brackets. The angle gets pretty crowded really quick. I used 3/8 threaded rod for the arm supports. 3/8 bolts for floor mounts & everything else is 5/16"" hardware.

All in all, I'm really happy with the way these turned out. The only down side is that they did come in a bit on the pricey side and blew the wing stand budget. I didn't expect the hardware and paint from home depot to add up the way it did. But I'd probably use the same exact hardware if i went with the wood stand. I bet the price differential would have been nominal with a free standing wood set up, actually I think the wood stand would have comout a bit more price wise. Now to bore 1/2' holes in the shop floor for the concrete anchors :-(... I plan on filling them later & laying down another coat of epoxy when I'm done & move everything to the hanger. One day Kim will actually be able to park in the garage."
