Brief Description: The Shop Finally Complete
When we bought our house back in May of 2011, this was just a dumpy / neglected 2.5 car garage with one GFI electrical outlet and two single bulb lights on the garage door openers. After we got half way settled, I started building out my RV factory :-)... It was the end of July when I got started on the shop. First things first, I needed some freaking outlets, why in the world would someone build a house with only a single outlet in the garage? I mean seriously, the house is only a few yeas old. Only one thing to do... Cut the back wall of the shop and run four additional outlets and a 220 outlet for the compressor in the back storage room. I sealed the wall back up, with power, I started knocking out the shop.
Here is a list of everything I did to renovate my plain ol' garage:
- Ripped out all of the base boards & molding. - Ran high pressure air lines in the wall. - Cleaned, surfaced and acid etched the conrete foor to prep for epoxy coat. This took forever and was a serious pain in the ass. Preperation is everything though! - I used Sherwin Williams crete-shield epoxy. Followed by 2 coats of SharkBite acrylic glaze. - Painted the walls & ceiling with exterior grade paint. - Put up a 4'*8' Gladiator WallGear system and several single slats for other equipment. - Ran 35' of track lighting to provide adequate lighting (running 17 high intensity floresent lights). - Replaced all of the base trim with hardieplank, painted and sealed it to the floor so, I can literally rinse shop with a hose. - Added floor cab.nets for tools and gear. - Got a 8 foot Craftsman work bench. - Built a 6 foot EAA type work bench on locking castors(mine is 41 inches tall). This could be a little tall for the RV project but I'm a little worried about irritating my back issues. I can always cut it down a bit. I plan on building a second one that locks together with the exsiting one I have and doubles the work surface. - Put up a 37' flatscreen with internet TV. - Lights in all of the cabnets. - Shelves in the
