"Finally took delivery of the ""real"" torque wrench... It is calibrated / certified to >1% error accross the whole torque range 0-600 inch-pounds. Deep breath! I actually like it so much that I went ahead and ordered the lower end torque range version 0-150 inch-pounds. These are once in a life time purchasesand way better than the $30.00 bar type torque wrench I've been using. So what the heck, they'll last me the rest of my life & hopefully several annual inspections / engine overhauls. I also recieved the replacement sealant gun cartridge retainer... We're back in business!!! Woo-Hoo!!!
Now on to the real plane work...
- Mixed up 20 grams of proseal & re-riveted the 27 rivets I removed yesterday. I am so freaking lucky that none of the holes were damaged from the poorly driven rivets nor the removal process. Well, except one hole I popped an oops rivet in... Ahhh! I'm now very happy with the way these turned out! BTW call me old-school but I definately prefer bucking rivets over squeezing them.
- Sealed up the perimeter of the tank leading edge attach bracket with a big old fat fillet.
- Encapsulated as many rivets as I could before running out of proseal
I still need to to do the internal fillet & finish encapsulation the remaining rivets.
WOW! These tanks are no joke. I have 88 hours into them as of today. I fully expect to have about another 20 hour to go before both tanks are complete."
