Refine drive plate surface finish with Scotch-Brite wheel and pads.
Rivet drive plate and root rib. Drilled out one that didn't set propperly and two additional that sat slightly high.
Disassemble Clecos from port ruddervator.
Thoroughly deburred interior skin, ribs, and hinge.
Reassembled and riveted port ruddervator.
Trimmed protective plastic from the startboard ruddervator with a soldering gun.
Layout and drill holes for ribs 1, 2, & 3. Did not assemble root rib as skin needs to be trimmed.
Layout and driledl hinge. On review of the work, found that the hinge was located and drilled approximately 1 inch too close to the outboard edge. Reset hinge location. A third of the holes lined up well enough to Cleco.
Will remake the ruddervator as the inside skin was gouged from each hinge drill hole. Learned the value of drill stops in preventing the damage from occuring, particularly in angles less than 90 degrees. Also, drilling countersunk holes on the drill press allowed greater variation in depth than when using the countersink holder.
