Assembly of left ruddervator. Drilled hinge using a fence on the drill press to maintain spacing. However, after watching an EAA video describing how to use a ruler as a layout tool, drilled an aluminum meter stick as described in the video. Will use the drilled ruler in future piano hinge construction.
Removed a 1" width of protective film from the rib areas using a soldering gun.
Layout of rivet holes. Several non-critical errors in layout and drilling.
Used the A-A pattern for the outboard #4 rib, resulting in an excess number of rivets in the long surface.
Error in the initial rivet distance from edge for number 2 & 3 rib.
