Brief Description:  Mount Horiz Stab!

This made it start to look like an airplane, but was a bit nerve-wracking.

The mounting bolts for the front spar had to be drilled through the left and right longerons (plus some other structures). Hard part was that the longerons are no longer visible and I was drilling a #12 (about 3/16") hole into the longeron which is only 5/8" wide--plus I had to hit the middle of it and another brace that runs cross-wise. Miss it and add a ton of work--probably have to rip out the longerons from firewall to tailcone and redo them. Ugh. I measured about 10 times and studied the plans and measured some more. Finally, I bit the bullet and did the deed.

I was so wrapped up in doing it that I didn't take any pictures until I got it done. But, in Pic1 there are two bolts close together that are where I was working. The gray primer was applied after I drilled and deburred to protect the metal. The outboard bolt (top) goes through the longeron and the inboard one goes through the crossbrace.

Tomorrow I'll set the incidence angle and mount the rear spar to the fuselage.
