This was a time consuming task. Still not done, but very close.
This is the main gear mount weldment. It is bolted to the main spar and a reinforced section of the fuselage with about 300 bolts. Just kidding--about 21 actually.
I had to cut an elliptical hole in the bottom skin of the fuselage for the leg tube to go through (and make many adjustments so as not to take too much material in the first whack). Then wiggle and coax to get it to settle into its home. The weldment fit right into place very well, actually. Kudos to Van's for a very nice kit.
