Heated the mount plate on the step and shaped it with a hammer and anvil to get it to follw the fuselage curve. Hard to see in the pic, sorry. Located and drilled the rivet holes through the plate and the fuselage and countersunk for flush rivets.
Shot a pic of the "phenolic" block location in the fuselage (at yellow clamps). The block is actually made of something called UHMW plastic. I guess that stands for ultra-high molecular weight. It's a very dense plastic that can be tooled and is used as a bearing in several places in the aircraft.
